Gunkanjima × Digital

Gunkanjima (Hashima), registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2015 as part of the Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution. The Gunkanjima Digital Museum in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, allows visitors to experience the vibrant life on the island, which once held the record for the highest population density in the world, as well as restricted areas that cannot be seen on landing tours, through giant screens and projection mapping. I was responsible for the art direction and design of the symbol mark and various tools. The symbol mark was created based on the shape of the island, which resembles a battleship, and unified tools were developed.
