JAPANESE WOW FACTOR

The annual New Year's card design “CIRCLE ANIMALS,” created as artwork by Fukuoka-based design firm SUKEDACHI DESIGN, has been featured in the book JAPANESE WOW FACTOR published by Sendpoints in Hong Kong. I consider points, lines, and planes in design to be essential methods for simplifying visual information and helping the viewer reach the optimal interpretation. Based on this philosophy, "CIRCLE ANIMALS" utilizes the "circle"—the core element of these shapes—as the base to depict the forms of various creatures.
This book delves into the deep-seated aesthetics of Japanese design. It explores how the simple visual language of "points, lines, and planes" connects, circulates, and weaves narratives through the hands of designers. It is a volume that introduces the allure of uniquely Japanese design methodologies, where minimal forms expand into infinite imagery.
